Gutter repair in Minneapolis
Modex repairs sagging gutters, separated seams, pulled downspouts, ice-dam-pulled runs, fascia-damaged sections, and clogged systems across the Twin Cities. Most repair calls run $150 to $2,500 depending on scope. We diagnose the actual cause — not just the symptom — and quote the repair that solves the leak, the sag, or the overflow. Full gutter replacement only when repair won't hold.

What we repair
The gutter failures we fix every week
Most gutter calls aren't replacement calls. They're fixable in a half-day to a day with the right diagnosis. We walk the run, find the actual cause — fascia rot under a hanger, a separated seam, a downspout pulled at the elbow, an ice-dam-pulled section — and quote the repair that holds. If a full run is gone, we'll tell you and quote replacement from our seamless gutter installation page. Honest call either way.
Sagging gutters and pulled hangers
Leaking and separated seams
Disconnected or pulled downspouts and elbows
Ice-dam-pulled runs and torn end caps
Fascia damage requiring gutter detach + reset
Heavy clogs and downspout blockages
Damaged or detached gutter guards (LeafFilter, KleanGutter, MasterShield, generic snap-in)

Repair vs replace
When repair holds. When replacement is the right call.
The honest decision frame we use on every Twin Cities gutter call.
Repair it
Localized failure on otherwise sound gutters
One sagging run. Two separated seams. A downspout pulled off in a storm. Fascia rot under three hangers. If the gutters are 5-inch or 6-inch seamless aluminum in good shape and the failure is localized, repair holds for years. $150 to $1,500 typical, single visit.

Replace it
Sectional gutters or system-wide failure
Old sectional (non-seamless) gutters with seams every 10 feet. 4-inch undersized runs on a 25+ square roof. Pitting, corrosion, multi-run pull-away after several ice-dam seasons. At that point repair money is better spent on a seamless full-house install.

Partial replace
Replace one run, save the rest
Sometimes the north-slope run is shot from ice-dam cycles and the rest of the system is fine. We color-match a single seamless run, integrate it into the existing system, and leave the sound sections in place. Costs less than full replacement, lasts as long where it matters.

Root causes
Why Twin Cities gutters fail
Most gutter failures around Minneapolis trace to four causes — and we name them on the inspection rather than just selling you a new set. For the prevention side, see ice-dam prevention — what actually works in Minnesota.
Ice dams pulling runs off fascia
Frozen ice loads in February and March pull hangers, separate seams, and tear end caps. The north-slope and shaded east-facing runs fail first. See ice-dam damage repair.
Fascia rot under hangers
When overflow runs behind a gutter for a season or two, the fascia board rots. Hangers lose their bite. The gutter sags or pulls away. Fix is fascia patch + rehang, not just rehang.
Undersized 5-inch on heavy roofs
Large or steep roofs overwhelm 5-inch K-style in Minnesota downpours. Overflow soaks fascia and pulls the run. Upsize to 6-inch oversized — see our Twin Cities aluminum gutter guide.
Hanger spacing too wide
Some Twin Cities installs space hangers at 36 inches. Heavy snow and ice need 18 to 24 inches. We add hangers during repair so the same failure doesn't come back next winter.
Process
How a Modex gutter repair runs
Inspection to repair, in one visit when the scope allows. Diagnosis first, fix second, photo documentation either way.
Inspection and diagnosis
We walk the gutter run, photograph the failure, and find the actual cause — fascia rot under the hangers, a separated seam, an ice-pulled section. Free, no pressure.
Scoped, lump-sum quote
One number per scope. Photos of the damage, photos of what we'll fix, and the price to do it. If we recommend replacement instead of repair we tell you why, with numbers for both paths.
Repair and water-test
Most repairs are a half-day to a single day. We water-test the run before we leave and back the workmanship for the life of the home.

Questions
The questions Twin Cities homeowners actually ask when a gutter starts sagging, leaking, or pulling off the fascia.
How much does gutter repair cost in Minneapolis?
Most gutter repairs in the Twin Cities run $150 to $2,500 depending on the scope. A single seam reseal is $150 to $350. A sagging-section rehang is $250 to $650. A pulled downspout is $200 to $550. An ice-dam-pulled run with fascia repair runs $650 to $2,500. Heat cable add-on is $450 to $1,500. Gutter guard repair is $200 to $1,200. We quote lump-sum per scope after a free inspection.
Repair or replace — which is right for my gutters?
Repair if the gutters are seamless aluminum in otherwise sound condition and the failure is localized (one or two seams, one sagging run, a pulled downspout). Replace if the gutters are old sectional (non-seamless), 4-inch undersized for the roof, or pitted from corrosion. Sometimes the right call is partial replacement — one shot run, the rest preserved. We tell you on the inspection with numbers for both paths.
Will gutter repair fix an ice-dam problem?
Gutter repair fixes the gutter. It doesn't fix what caused the ice dam, which is usually attic heat escape and inadequate insulation. We can rehang the pulled run, add heat cable to the north slope, and document the damage for insurance — but the durable fix is upstream. Our Minnesota ice-dam prevention guide walks through what actually works and what doesn't.
Do you repair LeafFilter, KleanGutter, or MasterShield gutter guards?
We repair all three on existing systems — re-securing detached panels, replacing damaged sections where the manufacturer offers replacement parts. We install MasterShield new as our preferred Twin Cities gutter guard. If you're weighing which guard system to put on next, see our MasterShield vs LeafFilter vs KleanGutter comparison — head-to-head on price, mesh, and warranty.
Will insurance cover gutter repair in Minneapolis?
Storm-pulled and ice-dam-damaged gutters are typically covered. Wear-and-tear, sagging from poor original installation, and clog-related failures are not. If a storm pulled the run or hail dented the gutter face along with the roof, the claim usually rolls into the broader storm scope. We document with on-roof photos and meet your adjuster on the property when possible.
How fast can Modex get out for a gutter repair?
Active leaking into the home or active overflow soaking the fascia — within 24 to 48 hours. Standard non-emergency repair calls — typically within a week, faster outside peak storm season.
