Product

What is DaVinci synthetic slate?

DaVinci Roofscapes is a Kansas-based manufacturer of polymer-composite synthetic slate and shake roofing engineered to mimic natural slate and cedar shake visually — at one-third the weight, installing on standard roof framing with no structural reinforcement. Premium architectural roofing without the natural-slate weight penalty.

Options

DaVinci product lines

Modex installs three DaVinci product lines for residential roofing

Bellaforté slate

Single-width synthetic slate tiles. Standard premium tier. $50K–$90K+ typical full roof. The Twin Cities default for synthetic slate.

Bellaforté shake

Cedar shake aesthetic in synthetic composite. Same warranty and lifespan as Bellaforté Slate. Preferred for homes with existing shake character.

Multi-Width slate

Staggered-thickness slate tiles for the most authentic natural-slate aesthetic. Higher cost, used on premium Edina and Wayzata lake-corridor estates.

Engineering

DaVinci weight and structural advantage

DaVinci synthetic slate weighs 2–3 lbs per square foot — the same structural load as standard asphalt. Natural slate weighs 8–10 lbs per square foot and most early-20th-century Twin Cities homes need $5K–$25K in structural reinforcement before installation can begin.

  • Installs on standard framing
  • No structural reinforcement required
  • Saves $5K–$25K in structural work

Westlake Royal's Design Canvas lets you upload a photo of your house — or pick a template home that looks similar — and try DaVinci synthetic slate and shake profiles in real time. Helpful for narrowing color and profile before we walk the roof. The tool covers the broader Westlake Royal lineup if you're planning a multi-material project.

Strategy

Why Modex installs DaVinci

Modex installs both DaVinci and CeDUR for the synthetic-slate and synthetic-shake categories. DaVinci carries the strongest brand recognition for resale value in Edina and Wayzata real estate comps. When a homeowner in the Twin Cities premium market picks synthetic slate, DaVinci is the default expectation — which is why we install it as our anchor synthetic-slate line.

Honest installer status

We install DaVinci — and we're not an Authorized installer

Modex installs DaVinci synthetic slate using manufacturer-trained methods. We are NOT a DaVinci Authorized installer — that program exists, but we aren't in it. We disclose this on purpose because most contractors who claim "authorized" status aren't. Your 50-year limited lifetime product warranty registers directly with DaVinci in your name through the same pathway regardless of installer credential. Modex's lifetime workmanship warranty (current owner) covers the install.

Why Modex installs DaVinci

Three commitments on every DaVinci install

Owner-led from measurement through final walk-through. Transparent about our non-Authorized status. Lifetime workmanship warranty stacked on top of DaVinci's 50-year product coverage.
