What is Pella?

Pella Corporation is an Iowa-based family-owned window manufacturer with the widest product range in residential windows — from entry vinyl through architect-grade wood. Pella's between-the-glass blinds option is unique in the industry and especially popular in the Twin Cities for sun-facing and lake-view exposures.

Pella-exclusive feature

Between-the-glass Slimshade blinds

Pella's Slimshade blinds sit inside the insulated glass unit — magnetically operated from inside your home. No dusting, no broken slats, no kids tangling the cords. Available on Lifestyle, Architect Series, and Reserve. The right call for sun-facing and lake-view exposures where standard blinds collapse over time.

Warranty stack

Pella warranty + Modex install warranty

Pella covers the windows: lifetime limited on frame and sash, 20-year glass, 10-year aluminum cladding. Modex covers the install: lifetime workmanship — current owner, not transferable. That stacks the manufacturer's product coverage on top of our labor coverage, with no overlap and no gap.

Energy performance

Energy performance built in

Triple-pane Low-E with argon fill is standard across all four Pella lines. NaturalSun coating captures winter solar heat — meaningful in a Minnesota climate that runs -20°F to 95°F. Energy Star Most Efficient picks used to qualify for the federal 25C tax credit, but that credit expired December 31, 2025. We can still spec to ENERGY STAR Most Efficient products for the lowest heating bills.

Questions about Pella?

Find answers to common questions about Pella product lines, warranties, and installation.

Pella has the broadest selection across price points and the only between-the-glass Slimshade blinds available in the Twin Cities. ProVia is the value-tier pick with a true transferable lifetime warranty. Kolbe is architectural-grade premium ($2,500–$6,000 per window) for historic restoration and custom builds. All three are rated for Minnesota's -20°F to 95°F climate. Modex installs all three by deliberate choice — so we can quote the brand that fits, not the brand we happen to carry.

No. Modex installs Pella windows but is NOT a Pella Authorized dealer. Pella's product warranty (lifetime limited on frame and sash, 20-year glass, 10-year aluminum cladding) is direct from the manufacturer and registers in your name regardless of installer credential. Our lifetime workmanship warranty covers the install. The non-Authorized path doesn't reduce your product warranty.

250 Series (vinyl) for budget at $1,400–$2,500 per window. Lifestyle (wood) mid-tier at $1,700–$3,500 per window with between-the-glass Slimshade blinds available. Architect Series (aluminum-clad wood) for architectural restoration at $2,500–$4,500 per window. Reserve (full-clad wood) premium at $3,500–$5,500 per window. Most Twin Cities homes land on Lifestyle or Architect Series.

Not anymore. The federal 25C tax credit (30%, up to $600 per year) expired December 31, 2025 and isn't available for windows installed in 2026, with no federal replacement. All Pella lines still offer triple-pane Low-E with argon gas fill and NaturalSun coating that reduce heating load in Minnesota winters — the savings now come from lower energy bills. Projects placed in service by December 31, 2025 may still qualify on your 2025 return.

2–5 days on-site for a typical full-house replacement. Reserve installs run longer — 5–7 days — because the full-clad wood frames are heavier and require precision-fit shimming. Product lead time before install is separate: 250 Series and Lifestyle ship in 4–8 weeks, Architect Series and Reserve are custom-built and run 8–12 weeks. If you have a seasonal deadline, we'd rather order early than rush.
